2024 Design Trend Forecast

Curating the interior of a home is a means of personal expression and a provides a sense of atmosphere that is unique to each space. While interior design trends come and go, according to experts here are a few we can expect to see more of in 2024.

Jewel Tones:

The saturated hues of gems are going to dominate the palette of 2024 in a response to the more muted and neutral colors that have dominated interior design in recent years. Expect to see more depth of color in interiors, whether as an accent or centerpiece of a room. As people embrace color once again, a sense of richness and mystery will define 2024 interiors. Mixing and Matching Historical Eras:

One of the most important trends to look for in 2024 is interior design that reflects the diversity of American history. Specialty artisanal items have been (and still are) made by a variety of people including craftspeople of color, women and girls, Native Americans, immigrants, and many others. Expect to see a mix of bespoke and one-of-a-kind items that reflect this diversity, many historical eras, and a variety of cultures and materials that are carefully curated for each individual space.

Layered Interiors:

Experts also predict 2024 will be all about layering on styles. Overlapping found objects such as vintage decor pieces against new pieces of furniture will help exude the sense of a thoughtfully curated home. This includes fabrics, furniture pieces and art aimed to create a cozy and unique space reflecting individual tastes.

Mixed Metals:

Many people believe that you have to stick to one finish of hardware and fixtures throughout the home. However, thoughtful mixing of finishes can add a sense of depth and sophistication to interiors. There is a way to create balance without everything matching, and the combination of black and brass is expected to be particularly popular for 2024.

Wallpaper in Unexpected Places:

Wallpaper has made a comeback in recent years, and it is being used in unexpected places to bring in a sense of fun and whimsy. Pantries, closets and powder rooms are a perfect space to add a special touch of color or pattern. Vintage styles and prints will also be popular for 2024 and bring a timeless quality to select areas of the home.
