That modest storefront would grow into a downtown institution and remain connected to the Giddings family for generations.

The building evolved along with downtown over the years, but its historic character remained. In 1983, the Giddings Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. More than a century after it was built, the Giddings Building entered another chapter when it was transformed into residential lofts. Many of the original architectural details were preserved, allowing a building that helped shape early downtown Colorado Springs to become part of its modern residential community.

The original Giddings Building delivers big on historic character.
